October club meeting

Last night, we held our bimonthly club meeting with our team managers. This is our regular meeting to discuss any issues with all committee members present and also to keep us all up to date with the progress each team is making and how the committee can help support the team.

The agenda included:

  • Update from all managers
  • Coach training & CRC
  • League futsal meeting
  • Player Id cards
  • Home fixtures
  • Club sponsorship
  • Heart4Rhya
  • Website & social media

Coaches and parents will be able to read the agenda and minutes of the meetings in our dedicated club meetings section (a login is required to view this section).

In our next meeting, we will be looking for a parent representative to be present to ensure we are meeting our club objectives. If you would like to be present, please let your coach know.

Workington Red Star FC have been named Team of the Round

Following the 1st Round games of the Cumberland Cup, Workington Red Star FC have been named ‘Team of the Round’!

With the confirmation that Cumberland Building Society are once again supporting the Cumberland Cup for season 2015-16, the Team of the Round Award is another incentive for teams playing in Cumberland FA’s Senior competition.

Workington Red Star FC have been awarded the ‘Team of Round 1’ following their victory over last season’s semi finalists Cleator Moor Celtic FC.

The Smurfit Kappa Cumberland County League side beat their fellow West Cumbrian’s who are currently flying high in the Wearside League 2-1 in extra time.

Workington Red Star will receive £100 worth of Nike equipment courtesy of Cumberland FA and Cumberland Building Society.

Premier Division Workington Red Star FC travel to Bransty Rangers FC of Division 1 in the 2nd Round of the Cumberland Cup this Saturday.

Pirelli FC also shortlisted for the Team of the Round award after beating Greystoke FC face a tough tie against Carlisle based Northbank FC this Saturday.

This weekend its also the Sunday Cup, Under 12, Under 16 County Cups and Match Day 1 for the Girls Under 12 and Under 14 competitions. Cumberland FA would like to wish all teams the best of luck!

Pirelli seniors nominated for team of the round

Our seniors have been nominated for team of the round alongside Workington Red Star.

Here’s what Cumberland FA website have said about the nomination:

The 1st Round of the Cumberland Cup was played in September with home advantage counting, 4 of the 5 home teams were victorious while Penrith AFC were the only travelling team who booked their place into the 2nd round draw.

Following deliberation from Cumberland FA’s Team of the Round Panel, two teams have been shortlisted following their performances in Round 1.

Pirelli FC beat Greystoke FC 4-0 in the Cup games, following a 6-1 reverse in a league fixture the previous week. Both teams currently sit mid table in Division 2 of the Westmorland Football League.

Workington Red Star FC beat last season’s semi-finalists Cleator Moor Celtic FC 2-1 in Extra Time. Playing in the Premier Division of the Smurfit Kappa Cumberland County League defeated their fellow West Cumbrian’s who are flying high in the Wearside Football League.

Once the public votes are in, Cumberland FA’s Team of the Round Panel will also cast their votes to determine the winner of ‘Cumberland Cup Team of Round 1’. The winner will receive £100 worth of Nike equipment courtesy of Cumberland FA and Cumberland Cup sponsors Cumberland Building Society.

FA Respect Guide for Parents

The FA have put together a guide for parents to find ways to improve conduct on the sidelines, promote positive role models and ultimately to keep children in the game.

U7’s Player Advert

We have spu7-advertace in our U7’s teams for this season, current year 1 kids. This is open to both boys and girls of any ability.

If you know someone who has a child who wants to play football with a great group of kids, then please get in touch with either Simon or Liam.

 

Player ID cards

The age rep from each league should have been in touch with all managers to confirm that the temporary ID card must be shown to the opposition manager and checked that only players listed are intending to play in the game before the game kicks of. Only players listed on the card are eligible to play in that game.
